The Z3 Project is a movement reimagining Jewish Peoplehood for the 21st century. We believe Jewish communities in Israel and the Diaspora can—and must—lead, shape, and take ownership of their identities, institutions, and shared future.

Rooted in the idea of communal sovereignty, Z3 believes Jewish life is strongest when built locally, with courage and shared purpose. An initiative of the Oshman Family JCC, we work with JCCs and other trusted institutions to revitalize Jewish public life through bold ideas, inclusive leadership and real-world dialogue. These spaces foster dynamic debate, enriching learning experiences and personal exploration of Zionism and Jewish life today.

Our History

Celebrating 10 Years

Since 2015, the Z3 Project has brought together influential voices from across the cultural, educational, religious and political spectrum. We create spaces for dynamic debates, enriching learning experiences and personal exploration of Zionism and Jewish life today. Positioned within the JCC movement in North America, we provide a non-religious, multi-generational platform for Jewish engagement, offering diverse services, events and community experiences.

Our APPROACH

How We’re Achieving Our Goals

In a world where Jewish connection is fraying and institutions feel distant, Z3 offers something vital: a model of Jewish civic life that is participatory, future-facing, and grounded in mutual responsibility. Through programming, publishing, and partnerships, we are not only sparking conversation—we are building the infrastructure for a more resilient, interconnected Jewish future.

Z3 focuses on three core areas of impact:

  1. The Z3 Institute

Our think tank cultivates new ideas, develops public intellectuals, and creates frameworks that help communities navigate identity, Zionism, and Peoplehood to build the Jewish future.

  2. The Z3 Conference and Events

Our flagship conference in Palo Alto, along with partner-led Z3@ gatherings across North America, build a public square by convening the community to encourage dialogue and model pluralism.

  3. Z3 Leadership Labs

We train professionals and lay leaders embedded in JCCs and other Jewish institutions to apply Z3’s framework in practical, community-led ways.

Z3 is how Jewish communities lead with purpose, speak across difference, and build the Jewish future, together.

UNITY, NOT UNIFORMITY

The Z3 Project aims to honor our differences while working for the oneness of the Jewish People.

ENGAGING AS EQUAL PARTNERS

The Z3 Project brings together Israelis and Diaspora Jews to build our common future.

DIVERSITY OF VOICES

The Z3 Project convenes Zionists of differing backgrounds and perspectives across the political and religious spectrums.
