Ronit Zimmer

Community Activist

A) What qualities make the nominee deserving of the Z3 Bridge Builder Award?

Ronit has been a shining example of how to bridge divides between communities by highlighting shared needs and a common humanity. An olah from Melbourne, Australia, Ronit and her husband, Eli , chose to come and raise a family in Israel and work towards building a stronger and more compassionate country. Her work before Rozana included time at The Peres Center for Peace as well as working for Shimon Peres himself. Her tireless dedication to building a more just and humane world, as global citizen and as a Jew, deserves to be highlighted and celebrated.

B) In what ways has the nominee demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to their work in bridging divides?

Ronit has always had a passion for ensuring all humans, everywhere, get the support and opportunities they deserve. In particular, Ronit has always emphasized the need to ensure women are being given the same opportunities and benefits as all others. While her work with Rozana is specific to ensure that all human beings receive the healthcare they deserve, she also looks to the future to see how all communities can have the tools they need to survive and thrive. A specific example of this is the Women 4 Women program, which sees medical professionals moving into isolated communities in the Hebron area of the West Bank to provide health care and preventive medical education for women and children.

C) How has the nominee's work impacted the Jewish community and beyond?
