On October 7th, Ziv was in his safe room with his girlfriend. His mother, Marcel, was 500 hundred meters away, in her home. Ziv and his girlfriend were rescued after 9 terrifying hours in his safe room. Sadly though, Marcel was brutally murdered, a 100 meters from her doorstep.
Ziv’s mother, Marcel, was an active member of the kibbutz. She participated in the kibbutz’s different committees and took different roles in order to contribute to the kibbutz’s community. She had her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemistry, and her PHD in Science Teaching. Her essence and passion were making chemistry and science fields more approachable for young students. She believed teaching the young generation science was the future of our lives in Israel and abroad.
After October 7th, Ziv decided to choose life, to be optimistic, to be active – he says that if his mother could speak now – this is exactly what she would say to him. Ziv is eager to spread his mother’s attitude to life which was: Always be active, always be motivated, if you fail – try again, there is nothing you can’t achieve, there is always a way.
