Zionism from A to Z3

Have you ever felt like the conversation at the Z3 Conference starts mid-stream? Ever wished you had a chance to catch up on the basics before diving into the deeper debates? We’ve heard from many in the community that the advanced level of the Z3 discussions can feel overwhelming for newcomers or those unfamiliar with the complexities of the Zionist movement.

In response, we are excited to offer Zionism 101, a foundational session designed to equip participants with a solid understanding of the origins and evolution of Zionism. This session will provide an engaging overview, tracing the movement from its early days to its current relevance. Through the exploration of historical events, artistic expressions, and literary works, we will dive into how past generations viewed the challenges of establishing and defending a Jewish homeland. By the end, you’ll be well-prepared to participate in more advanced discussions at the Z3 Conference.

About the Speaker

Dr. Eva Gurevich earned her PhD from Brandeis University, specializing in modern Jewish nationalism, the history of Israel, and the modern Jewish experience, as well as Hebrew literature. Her research focuses on the Six-Day War of 1967 and how it reshaped the state of Israel, redefining its mission and source of legitimacy.

Her upcoming publications explore the impact of catastrophe in Israeli history and the establishment of holy sites in Jerusalem within the framework of a secular state.
